
MR MIKES started as a casual cafeteria-style grill in Vancouver over 50 years ago. There were no frills and no gimmicks, just affordable food in a cheerful atmosphere that offered great food and customer service.
At the end of 2010, Empresario added the MR MIKES franchise to its portfolio beginning the task of rebranding to accurately define MR MIKES as a unique steakhouse experience. This process would ultimately lead to the creation of a new dining category we like to call SteakhouseCasual.
Staying true to the roots, we are embarking on a revitalization of all MR MIKES restaurants to create an atmosphere that is relaxed and genuine. Leaving behind the tired décor of the past we’re rejuvenating the atmosphere with memorable photos, warm wood grains, distressed metals, and artwork that celebrates the essence of the brand.
With over 50 years of experience, a sumptuous menu, and a freshly upgraded brand, MR MIKES is perfectly positioned to expand into new markets and establish SteakhouseCasual as the new standard for steak house dining.
In 2019, MR MIKES entered into a royalty trust transaction with Diversified Royalty Corp.
MR MIKES continues to expand its national presence with franchised locations from BC to Ontario.
Valley Lube, a multi-unit franchisee of Mr. Lube, was created by Empresario and partners to capitalize on the opportunity to work with a complimentary leading franchisor in a retail environment where its expertise in customer experience, branding and operations could be leveraged.
The franchisor, Mr. Lube started out as a single location in Edmonton, Alberta in 1976. They offered no hassle, quick oil changes without an appointment. In 1976, that was an innovative concept. Mr. Lube’s franchise operations started in 1981 and the company quickly expanded and today is the biggest provider of quick oil changes in Canada. There are now more than 200 Mr. Lube locations across Canada and more are on the way. Mr. Lube has evolved over the years and today offers complete auto maintenance services.
Valley Lube is a proud multi-unit operator of Mr. Lube stores and has the goal of growing both through organic same store sales growth and through expansion of the numbers of units under its ownership.
